Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC – the world’s flagship Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority on commodities trade and enterprise – hosted a briefing call with His Excellency Majid Al-Suwaidi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Spain, on the 12th of August via a virtual conference.
During the briefing, the two leaders commended the UAE government for showing exemplary leadership and being at the forefront of the global response to COVID-19, emphasising the various measures rolled out and implemented to protect the wellbeing of citizens, residents and visitors across the country. They also praised the UAE’s relentless support to the international community and its donation of hundreds of tonnes of aid to Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Al Suwaidi and Bin Sulayem reiterated the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Spain, discussing ways to further strengthen existing ties. Bin Sulayem emphasised that as a global trade, transport and finance hub, Dubai can offer Spain a gateway of opportunity into Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Ambassador Al Suwaidi shared with Bin Sulayem that the economic and trade interests between the UAE and Spain have grown exponentially throughout the last two years, and expressed his confidence that the economic interconnectivity between the two countries will keep growing in the following years. Ambassador Al Suwaidi commended the role that DMCC plays in attracting Spanish investments to the UAE, and acknowledged DMCC’s role in taking the UAE-Spain bilateral relations to new heights
Bin Sulayem also took the opportunity to brief His Excellency on DMCC’s Business Support Package, its largest ever commercial incentive, which was recently extended, alongside DMCC’s plans to triple the output of its Coffee Centre. In this regard, Spain is an important link to Europe and Latin America, which are two important growth markets for companies in the region.
In February earlier this year, DMCC took its flagship Made for Trade Live roadshow to Barcelona to highlight the commercial appeal of Dubai to Spanish firms.
DMCC continues to host a series of virtual briefings with Ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates across key markets to further strengthen bilateral relations and discuss ways to support ongoing trade ties.
